Inventory relocations

When relocating, (part of the) inventory of an item is moved from location A to location B.

There are 2 types of relocations:

  • System directed inventory relocations: Objective supports system directed inventory relocations based on relocation rules that can be set per item, item group or generally. The LPNs that are to be relocated can be selected from the inventory overview. The relocation will be offered to the operator as a task.
  • Manual inventory relocations: The manual inventory relocations are generated by the supervisor and executed via the RF device.
Presumes that the operator performing a manual inventory relocation is trained to do so. Objective will therefore not block any manual inventory relocations, even if they are in conflict with the rules.

From the moment that an LPN is scanned by an operator, the To Location is changed to the system location <Transit> and the source location is immediately made available again. Once the LPN has arrived, the location (transit) is changed to the actual location.

In the case that the task is reset (time out,...), the LPN remains in transit and the operator remains owner of the task. For example, if an LPN is still on the forklift. If the operator requests a new task, the original task is resumed.

If the operator logs out of Objective, the LPN remains in transit and the owner can be erased from the task. You can take the LPN out of transit by:

  • Scanning the LPN and resuming the original task
  • Marking the LPN as lost
  • Moving the LPN to an inventory location.
