Dock and Yard Management
The Objective Dock & Yard Management System (DMS) serves as an interface between the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and the Transport Management System (TMS). It efficiently coordinates the unloading and loading of inventory by optimizing the use of resources—such as equipment, docks, and personnel—maximizing their utilization and reducing congestion. A yard is the area surrounding the warehouse that includes designated driving and parking spaces for trucks.
The Objective Dock & Yard management configurator makes it possible to create and manage Yards and Dock Planning. The Yard activities include tracking truck arrivals, assigning parking spots, managing waiting times, and directing vehicles to loading and unloading docks as they become available. The yard activity options are– Check-in, Park, Dock, Check-out.
In the Objective Dock & Yard management supervisor, with Dock Appointments there is always a carrier involved, and a Transport Unit must be assigned to the dock appointment. Transport units can be docked to facilitate loading and unloading through the Warehouse Management System (WMS). Once the process is complete, the transport unit is undocked and prepared to exit the yard. The Dock Appointments and Yard Appointments enable seamless movement of vehicles from the yard to the dock and these details can be visualized in Yards and Dock Planning Cells.
