Allocate an operation (via Gantt diagram)

Module Warehouse Management Engine required.

Only a planned operation for which inventory must be picked can be allocated. Allocation ensures that the required inventory is reserved for production. The required items (inputs) will be delivered via tasks.

Tasks are released:

manually by the supervisor
On release of the job
At the start of the job
by PLE

See Configurator System Management > MES Settings > Inventory Settings to set the options for the release of the tasks.

Choose Production Management in the Navigation Pane.
Click the element Departments, Machines, (External) Work Centers, Resource Groups or Planning Cells.
Do one of the following:
- Choose a department, machine, (external) work center, resource group or planning cell.
- Choose My 'Element'.
- Choose a filter.
Choose the tab Planning.
Do one of the following:
- Select one or more operations, right-click the selected operation in the Gantt diagram and choose Allocate Operation in the shortcut menu.
- Select a machine or work center in the column Resource, select one or more operations in the sub tab Planning and click Allocate Operation in the toolbar of the sub tab Planning.
If the dialog box Wizard Allocate Operation appears, choose one of the following options:
- Allocate all the operations of production order 'ProductionOrderName'
- Allocate operation 'OperationName'
Click Finish.
To automatically release the allocated operations, check the option Automatic Release in the option group Allocation Options of the dialog box Wizard Allocate Operation.
Click Finish.
If there is not enough inventory, an overview of the shortages will appear. Click Finish to continue with these shortages or click Cancel to not execute the allocation.
