Work groups and consignments

Orders (1) can be managed without grouping of the orders (A). In order to process the orders more efficiently, Objective supports 2 grouping levels for the structuring and managing of orders:

  • Work Groups (3)

A work group is a group of orders and/or consignments that require simultaneous or specific handling in the warehouse.

Examples of using work groups are:

    • A work group per shift or per delivery date.
    • A work group for handling urgent orders.
    • A work group for a specific carrier.
  • Consignments (2)

A consignment is a grouping of orders according to a delivery point, region, shipment.

For example: All orders with the same delivery address are added to the same consignment, all orders for Belgium are added to the same consignment and all orders for France are added to another consignment.

Work Groups (3) and consignments (2) can be used separately or in combination, as illustrated in the figure below.

  • A: The orders (1) are managed without grouping.
  • B: The orders are grouped in a consignment (2) according to a delivery point, region, shipment.
  • C: The orders are grouped in a work group (3) because they require the same processing.
  • D: In addition to the orders, consignments (2) can also be added to a work group (3).
