Statuses of a production order

When a production order is created, it has the status IDLE. Then the production order goes through a number of statuses until it reaches the status COMPLETED. The following statuses are possible on a production order and its underlying operations:

Status Explanation
IDLE No operation is assigned to a machine
PLANNED

An operation is assigned to a machine.

Orders coming via an ERP interface get this status by default.

ALLOCATING The system is allocating the necessary items. This status can be seen by a supervisor when another supervisor is allocating. (module Warehouse Management Engine required)
ALLOCATED The needed items are allocated. (module Warehouse Management Engine required)
RELEASED The operation is released and can be seen by the operator on the resource view.

As soon as a production order is released (production orders can be released automatically or manually (via a user-friendly wizard) in Objective, a job is created for each operation. A job is the execution of an operation on a resource.

ACTIVE The operator started the operation on a machine or work center.
HELD The operation is held with a specific interrupt reason.
STOPPED The operation is stopped and is no longer planned on a machine. This also means that this operation has been active. The supervisor can plan the operation again.
ABORTED

The operation is aborted. No registration on the operation can take place anymore.

If an ERP system forwards a delete of a production order, Objective will set the order to ABORTED status.

COMPLETED The operation is completed. No registration on the operation can take place anymore.

In resource view, the operator can interact with the production process, including among others:

  • The registration of failures and interruptions.
  • Perform checks (instructions) and enter results.

Depending on the status of the production order, the operation will be shown as a job in the tabs below:
