Generate locations

You can have Objective create a range of locations. You can determine and set the naming and structure. There can be no locations generated below the location level bin.
A Bin Name Configuration can be added in advance for the relevant warehouse.
  1. Choose Warehouse Management > Warehouses in the Navigation Pane.
  2. Right-click the warehouse or location in the Navigation Pane and choose Generate Locations in the shortcut menu.
  3. Check the levels that must be generated.
    • AISLE
    • RACK
    • SHELF
    • BIN
  4. Choose per level one of the following options:
    • Alpha, the naming of the location level is done according to a variable letter.
    • Numeric, the naming of the location level is done according to a variable number.
  5. Click Next.
    Per chosen level in step 3, step 6 will be repeated. The title of the wizard screen indicates for which location level the naming is configured.
  6. Enter the fields below:

    Prefix

    Optional field.

    Enter the characters that should appear before the variable letter or number of the locations to be generated here.

    Suffix

    Optional field.

    Enter the characters that should appear after the variable letter or number of the locations to be generated here.

    From

    (mandatory field)

    Alfa pattern: From the drop-down menu, select the first letter of the range with which to create the name of a location.

    Numeric pattern: Enter the first number of the range with which to create the name of a location.

    Until

    (mandatory field)

    Alfa pattern: From the drop-down menu, select the last letter of the range with which to create the name of a location.

    Numeric pattern: Enter the last number of the range with which to create the name of a location.

    Length

    (mandatory field)

    Only in the case of a numeric pattern.

    Choose the number of digits for the number that is to be inserted in the name. If the number consists of less digits, the name will automatically be filled up with zeros to the set length. In this way all location names have the same length.

    Enter 0 to not generate any zeros in the beginning and in this way generate location names with a variable length (dependent on the chosen start and end number in the fields From and Until).

    Example This field shows an example of the first and last location name to be generated according to the above settings.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Next.
    The locations are generated.
    • Dependent on the number of locations to be generated, the generation could take some time!
    • At the bottom of the dialog box Wizard Generate Locations the word Finished will appear when all locations are generated.
  9. Click Finish.
