Add a new employee manually

  1. Choose Resource Management > Employees in the Navigation Pane.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Right-click Employees or My Employees in the Navigation Pane and choose New Employee in the shortcut menu.
    • Click New Employee in the toolbar of the Employees tab or the My Employees tab.
  3. In the dialog box New Employee Wizard complete the fields below:

    Name Name of the employee:
    First Name First name of the employee.

    ID

    (mandatory field)

    Unique key for the employee in Objective.

    For example, an internal employee number for the individual.

    Language

    In the drop-down menu select the language of the employee in Objective. For English, Dutch and French, the user interface will be set automatically to this language after logging on. If another language or no language was specified, the default Objective system language (English) will be used.

    When the corresponding employee logs in, this language setting will be taken into account to display attributes which were translated into the set language correctly.

    Description Additional information can be added about the employee here.
    In Service Select the date on which the employee enters into service in the Date Selection dialog box.
    Out of Service Select the date on which the employee's employment ends in the Date Selection dialog box.
    User ID The user ID which the employee will use to log on to Objective. The user ID can be different from the ID (for example initials versus the employee number), but must be unique in Objective.
    Password

    The password with which the employee will log on to Objective.

    To change the password, click the Edit Password button.

    Please note: If System Authentication is checked, there is no use in assigning a password.

    System Authentication

    If checked:

    Microsoft Windows Server Active Directory LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) data will be used for employee authorization to log on to the Objective Configurator, Objective Supervisor and Objective Operator Client.

    The following conditions have to be met for correct functioning:

    • The Objective User ID must correspond exactly with the Windows server user account.
    • The LDAP settings must be set correctly in System Management > General Settings > Authentication Settings. See Enable LDAP Authentication.

    Please note: If System Authentication is checked, there is no use in assigning a password.

    Single Sign-On

    If checked:

    After logging on to the operating system, the user will be automatically logged on to Objective Configurator and Objective Supervisor without having to log on again with his/her user ID and password.

    The following conditions have to be met for correct functioning:

    • Enable Single Sign-on is checked in System Management > General Settings > Authentication Settings.
    • The specific SSO (Single Sign-On) installation of the relevant application must be used.
    • The User ID that was used to log on to the operating system, corresponds exactly with the Objective User ID.
    • The user logged on to the operating system has sufficient privileges to log on to the application (see Privileges).

    Important: This setting has no impact on the log on process in Objective Operator Client or Objective RF Client applications. Manual authentication is always required for these applications.

    Picture

    A picture of the employee can be added. Bmp, jpg, png and gif formats are accepted.

    Click Edit Picture . Select a picture and click Open.

    To remove the picture, press Delete Picture .

  4. Click Finish.
  5. Add more data to the employee. See Add data to an employee.
  6. Where applicable, add free fields. See Edit free fields via tab (Configurator).
