Add a new communication device

  1. Choose Resource Management > Devices in the Navigation Pane.
  2. Choose the tab Communication Devices in the Data Pane.
  3. Click New Communication Device .
  4. In the dialog box New Communication Device Wizard, complete the fields below:

    Name

    (mandatory field)

    The name of the communication device.

    Description Description of the communication device.
    ID Field to be completed at your discretion, to assign an individual ID.
    Category Choose the desired category out of the following options:
    • Generic
    • Scale
    • Scanner
    • Badge reader
    Connector Depending on the chosen category, only the option Read-only (only for reading out tags or data of an equipment module) or also the option Read-write (possibility to add information to the tag or to overwrite existing information) is available.
    Device type
    Select the device. Depending on the category, a choice can be made between all device types which are supported by the device handler.
    For the category Generic, only a free entrance is possible. For the category Badge reader no entrance or selection is possible.
    Device ID Enter the Device ID, as known for the device server.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. Where applicable, add free fields. See Edit free fields via tab (Configurator).
