Import data into the application

If you want to enter or update multiple data in the application, often it is easier to import the data.

To make sure that the data that you want to import as a CSV are correctly organized and have the right layout, create an export file. Add all the data to be imported in the export file.

Create a CSV file from the export file in Excel.

In Excel, choose Save As > Other Formats > CSV (Comma Delimited) *.csv.

  1. ChooseTools > Import and choose what you want to import:

    For the Objective Configurator:

    • Import Employees
    • Import Employee Skills
    • Import Badges
    • Import Items
    • Import Item Container Types
    • Import Customers
    • Import Suppliers
    • Import Carriers
    • Import Location Attributes
    • Import Pick Locations

    For the Objective Supervisor:

    • Import Production Orders (CSV or XML)
    • Import Purchase Orders (XML)
    • Import ASNs (XML)
    • Import Receipts & Returns (CSV or XML)
    • Import Orders (CSV or XML)
    • Import Lots (CSV or XML)
    • Import Stock (XML)
    • Import Transfer Orders
  2. Choose the file to be imported and click Next.
  3. In the option group Import Mode, choose the import mode:
    • Incremental Download, existing data are updated, new data are added.
    • Full Download, everything is deleted and replaced with new data.
  4. In the option group Import Options select the following options as necessary (only applicable for a CSV file):

    In the drop-down menu choose the separator used in the import file:

    • Comma ( , )
    • Semicolon ( ; )
    • Tab ( \t )
    Character set

    In the drop-down menu choose the character set for the import file:

    • US-ASCII ( , )
    • ISO-8859-1
    • UTF-8
    • UTF-16
    • UTF-16BE
    • UTF-16LE
    • windows-1252
    Mark records as downloaded

    The field Downloaded is checked. In the toolbar the button Downloaded is pressed if it regards a record that is marked for download. The record properties cannot be changed.

    You can also add the field Downloaded to the data pane. See Add a new column.

    If you do not check any import options, the file is imported by default with the comma as a separator and the Windows-1525 character set.
  5. Click Finish.
    The import result will appear. Click Save Download Result to save the result in a text file.
  6. Click Finish.
