Documents and attachments

It is possible to add documents or attachments like photographs or manuals to a number of objects, in the form of attachments, file paths, SharePoint documents... These can serve as e.g. instruction for operators.

Viewing the files is supported within Objective in the following ways:
  • Objective has its own viewer for .gif en .png images
  • An embedded (chrome) browser is used for the other formats
  • This browser is also used for pdf files
  • That way, Objective supports all formats the browser supports (whether or not via plugins). If, for example, a cad viewer plugin is installed (on the operator pc), cad files can also be viewed via the browser. It is also possible to e.g. embed videos.
Depending on the object, the following document types can be added:

Text

Information can be pasted or typed in the box below.
HTML Text Information in HTML code can be pasted or typed in the box below.

For Text and HTML Text, it is possible to add translations via the icon Translate Document (if no translations have been added yet) or (if translations have already been added). For general information concerning translations, see Translations.

URL Enter the internet address where the information is available.
For the following 3 file types it is possible to check whether the files should be opened with the default system application. Then the file can be opened directly in the correct application (e.g. MS Word) instead of via the OBJT browser.
File Path Click Repository File Selection and select the file you want to add. Optionally, choose Open with default system application.
Repository File Click Repository File Selection and select the file you want to add. Optionally, choose Open with default system application.
Database Click Repository File Selection and select the file you want to add. Optionally, choose Open with default system application.
Sharepoint The Sharepoint site with the correct authorization and authentication is set in the background, and the document uses a relative Sharepoint URL as file name. Enter this URL.
Item Document This allows you to add the document that was already added to the item. For further configuration, see Set an item document.
Resource Document Enter a document ID or select a document ID from the drop-down menu Document ID.
Tool Document Enter a document ID or select a document ID from the drop-down menu Document ID. Enter a BOM index or select a BOM index from the drop-down menu BOM Index.
