Add a new access reader

  1. Choose Access Management > Access Readers in the Navigation Pane.
  2. Click New Access Reader in the toolbar of the Data Pane.
  3. In the option group General of the dialog box Wizard New Access Reader, enter the below data:

    Name

    (mandatory field)

    The name of the access reader.

    Description The description of the access reader.
    Alias

    To drive the access readers separately you can enter an alias.

    For example: Access readers without alias will open the door upon pressing the F2 key, while access readers with the alias 'light' will switch on the light upon pressing the F2 key.

    Access Type

    Select one of the following options in the drop-down menu:

    • ENTRANCE, the access reader reads whether someone is authorized to enter the facility.
    • EXIT, the access reader reads whether someone is authorized to leave the facility.
    Attendance Reader Check whether the access reader should also perform registrations as an attendance reader.
  4. In the option group Address of the dialog box Wizard New Access Reader, enter the below data:

    Protocol Select the desired network protocol.
    Port Enter the port that is used for the network.
    IP Address Enter the IP address of the network (fixed).
    Logical Address Enter a logical address for the network.
  5. Do one of the following in the option group Open Zone:
    • In the field Access Schedule, enter the name of the access schedule.
    • Click Select Access Schedule , select an access schedule and click Finish.
    The area with this access reader becomes an open zone. According to the assigned access schedule, everyone has access.
    Click Show Access Schedule to review the details of the selected access schedule.

    An access reader for an open zone is usually not included in the list of access profiles.

    If it is included, the hardware configuration will determine which access schedule is relevant for access.

  6. Click Finish.
    The properties of an access reader can still be modified afterward via the sub tab Properties.
